All in the Family

So, in my blog hiatus I have been doing a lot of family bonding… Not much, though enough to know that I am surrounded by dysfunctional people who usually have my best interests at heart. I am really lucky to know both my mother and father. Something as normal as that in my life has been the turmoil and source of anger in most young people’s life. There are times in which I would have traded them both in for a new model, though I am so glad that in the end, I am blessed to have Ron’s style and Diane’s quick wit.

Though, why do so many of us who have families see each other so infrequently? Why is it that I have family in LA, Chicago and Seattle that I see once very blue moon? If even that really…. My family is so big, that I actually have family within a family. I have members who are not blood, yet are still a part of me and are very much of the same tree. (That rhymed…not on purpose.) I have friends that I grew up with like family and I have either lost touch or plain don’t see them at all. Yet, even those who are not blood related have shaped me into who I am. Why not keep up with these folk? Is it easier to call a girlfriend for the latest news, instead of a cousin or sister? Is it the age gap? I have no idea. Really, these questions have no answer, at least none that I can answer truthfully.

The scenario came up today when a coworker of mine heard me say that a certain celebrity “twin connection” were my cousins. Now, they are not blood related, though when we were younger, you couldn’t have told us that. We got into loads of trouble and were very close. I even wanted to move to their house! Though, as we were older, the calls stopped and the communication really dwindled. I would see them on TV and become extremely excited, though sad, as I knew that was my only way of “Keeping Up” with what they were doing. This is one of the reasons why I didn’t like California, not because of lack of phone calls from family, because of that “Hollywood” mentality and the “who you know” way of life. This is the reason I believe we lost touch. I am now the equivalent to the county bumpkin cousin of the now famous actresses……….. how uncool. Though, dammit I am pretty much in the know, I club, party and bullshit, I am fairly attractive, nobody you would be ashamed of… lol yet, no calls. This actually goes for all the people who I knew and no longer speak with in LA LA land. Can it be that we have all changed so much that NONE of us can relate to one another? What gives? Maybe I should reach out first? Though, no that would look desperate and I’m pretty sure most would think I am buttering them up to borrow money. So what do I do? Is it safe to say that in life, people come and go for a reason? Is that acceptable for family? Friends?

I guess until then, I will keep living my life and embrace those who are immersed in it fully. Why throw yourself upon people who may be too busy for you? Then again, maybe I will make the first step and call. I mean, I love these guys despite whatever the length of time it has been since I saw their face in person. I also could use about 50 bucks…

My lip gloss be poppin! Is yours??

Recently I was turned on to Bobbi Brown's lush lip gloss. I love it! You will too! ever so easy to glide on your lips and it does not make you all chapped and ashy hours later. (Y'all know what I'm talking about) Some lip glosses will tear your lips up and make them all flaky and gross. Remember in middle school you used to wear all that Carmex that was just WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! Making your poor lips peel and tingle...... Shame on you! Shame on all of us! Luckily, if you use this lip gloss, your lips will forgive you and charge that Carmex episode to the game.

I love the gloss in the color gold. It is a MUST for darker skin tones. BEAUTIFUL! Have any of you tried another color? Let me know how it's treating ya!

Well, whats new in current events? Tiger Woods is still held by the balls from his corporate sponsors I see.... Why does everyone think that we needed to hear an apology from him? I am gonna jump out there and say if his wife were black, we wouldn't even care.







Don't believe me huh? Well look at the whole scandal with Shaq supposedly screwing Gilbert Arenas' wife..... Did Shaq hold a press conference? Nope. Did we care either way? Nope. Why? cause there is no crying white woman. Everybody hates to see a crying white woman. This is how Oprah's show got to be so popular. I tell my white friends all the time, you wanna blackmail a nigga, don't key his car, don't play on his phone, just start crying. The police will show up quick!

Glamour Wednesday!!

So, I decided to have some structure to this blog thingy.... I will make each Wednesday about some beauty product that I love or want to try. I am not being paid for none of this, so don't think of it as solicitation. I'm just a girly girl, so hopefully my suggestions can help or give you an opportunity to try something new.

Grammy Highlights

So, I am my own fashionista...... as a fat girl, I cant really get into Fendi and Gucci, even if I save my hard earned minimum wage dollars they simply don't want to see my ass in their clothes. So I have my own sense of style! I will post some of my favorites from last night.

I don't care what y'all say... I LOVE this bitch.... Gaga in Armani.

Heidi Klum in Pucci. Look at the tits on her! Motherhood never done someone as much justice! Ashanti looking "pageant chic" I liked it though. Way to try and stay relevant Shani.

All in all the Grammys were pretty entertaining. I could have done without Em, Weezy and Drizzy though. The MJ tribute, while touching, was a snoozefest. I would have rather seen Celine and Carrie Underwood just fight to the finish on who is the most powerful white voice in the game. (My money is on Celine) Usher was over the top as usual. I guess he wants to shine with his newly single self. Also, I know it's 2010 and all, but we all don't just have 3-D glasses laying around the house. My eyes were burning like shit. Mike's kids said a touching little something at the end. I am still yearning for something more. What is an MJ tribute without dancing?? Damn that Chris Brown and his iron fist! He has ruined my chance to see a real tribute due to his current blackballing.

I saved the best for last though.......... My love, my better half.... The Alpha and Omega......
